Condolence: Both Mr. and Mrs. Werner were my teachers. Mr. Werner at Darby and Mrs. Werner at Northside. Both were also our journalism advisors for newspaper and yearbook. It is amazing to me that they both had equal talent in encouraging us to be the best we could be. All of these years later, every time I spell neighborhood I think of Mr. Werner. I spelled it incorrectly in an essay and, as he handed the paper back to me, he said “was that Jim Naborhood?” Loved learning from both of them! What an incredible and permanent impact they have had on the lives of many young people.

Condolence: I found myself remembering Pat’s sense of adventure (does anyone remember her story about flying to Wyoming and an engine catching fire?). As well as her tremendous wit!! I misread some lines during an audition, and I still laugh thinking about how much we laughed together over my blooper!! She treated us goofy 16 and 17 year olds like we were adults, sort of! With respect, and we mattered. I will be eternally grateful to her, and will always think of her with a smile. My condolences, Charles, and I look forward to auditioning for some heavenly play for her on the other side.

Condolence: Mrs. Werner was wonderful in our Creative Writing Senior English class. The class was informal but so effective, especially in helping us get to know each other before graduation. May she rest in God's Peace.

Condolence: Mrs. Werner was my English teacher at Kimmons Junior High. I was only in Fort Smith for less than two years. We both hailed from central New Jersey and I enjoyed her sense of humor, especially the atrocious puns, with which she framed her tests and assignments. She was a bright spot during some dark days in my youth. I shall miss her.

Condolence From: R Bailey
Condolence: May I offer my sincere condolences. I pray your hearts find comfort in God's Word the Bible where it states: “. . . the Sovereign Lord provides escape from death” Psalms 68:20. This will be at a time when there will be peace, with no sickness or death as the Bible promises at Isaiah 33:24 and Revelation 21:4. Until then, may your hearts find comfort and hope in God’s Word, family, friends and good memories. My deepest sympathy.

Condolence: My heart broke when I heard the news. Pat has been so special to our family. My husband sang in the choir, our grandchildren and youngest daughter played handchimes, and most recently my daughter, granddaughter, as well as myself played handbells for the Easter Service. Our lives have been enriched by knowing her and Charles. We will forever be grateful for her friendship, love, humor. Her smile will be with me always. I love you, Pat

Condolence: Mrs. Werner had a lasting and positive effect on my life. In her creative writing class she successfully encouraged me to do my best and take pride in my voice (In spite of my Bart Simpson tendencies). She also introduced me to a number of books that opened my mind to a larger world. In one brief semester, I read Lord of the Flies, Catcher in the Rye, Fahrenheit 451, Catch 22, Slaughterhouse 5, and Cat’s Cradle. Undoubtedly the best education I got as a senior at Northside (1980). God bless you Mrs. Werner, may you rest in peace.

Condolence: Both if you have served as inspiration for me throughout my teaching career. Mrs. Werner was a loving but firm teacher, that as her students became adults, she allowed them to become friends. Much love and respect to you both. I will continue to draw from my experience in your classes as I continue to teach my students.

Condolence: Mrs. Werner was the best teacher I ever had. She taught me to think critically, to write carefully, to edit everything. (And, to diagram the preamble to the Constitution) Much of what I have accomplished in my life was rooted in my time in her classroom. I will remember her.

Condolence: I am glad that she is at peace and without pain. I will mourn her passing, She was one of a kind, without comparison on any level and I truly hope she heard the last rimshot before leaving this world. "Go to the summerlands oh my heart. Where the weather is warm and the winds are kind. Wait for us there, by the western gate, wait for us for we will all surely join you." I will miss you P.N.
