Obituary for Wanda Doris Elam (Bishop)

Wanda Doris Elam went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2018. She was born to Earl and Martha Bishop on May 27, 1938 in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Earl Bishop; mother, Martha Bishop; father-in-law, Charlie Elam; mother-in-law, Annabelle Elam; husband, Monte Elam; brothers, Bob and Bill Bishop; sister, Margret Frisk and sister, Faye Chimento.
She is survived by daughter, Teresa Hobbs and husband Smokey, daughter Jeanie Cain, daughter Cindy Loomis and husband Sandy, daughter Anita Garrison and husband Greg and son, Jimmy Elam and wife Belinda and a brother, Joe Bishop and wife Mitzi .
Wanda was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.
Wanda spent her early married life as a stay at home mom where she set the tone for a loving and stable home life. Later, she entered the workforce as a beautician, a fishing lure assembler, a real estate agent and later spent many years as a Wal-Mart associate. Her husband, Monte, became a pastor and she served the Lord as a pastor’s wife. As Monte retired, they moved back to Alma, Arkansas.
Wanda always put the needs of others before her own. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.
There will be a viewing at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma from 6:00 until 8:00, Monday, June 18, 2018. Celebration of life will be at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 11:30 A.M. officiated by Tom Steward and under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. Wanda will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas with her late husband, Monte Elam
