Obituary for Billy Beam

Billy   Beam
Billy Beam, 84, of Mulberry passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 in a local nursing home. He was the president of American Outdoor, had designed and developed a batting machine which was used by five major baseball league teams and had owned his own construction business for many years. He also managed a coal mine during the 70’s and 80’s with his brother Jim. He was a member of the Mulberry Lions Club and the 1st United Methodist Church in Mulberry. He enjoyed square dancing and working with his cattle, spending time with his family and was very active in his community and church. He was preceded in death by his parents Neal Beam and Rosie (Grippando) Beam, two brothers Jim and Kenneth Beam and his wife Marilyn.

Funeral services will be 2PM, Monday, April 2, 2018 at the 1st United Methodist Church in Mulberry with burial to follow at New Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.

He is survived by one daughter Marla Walker and her husband Bruce of Mulberry; two sons Craig Beam and his wife Sharon of Van Buren and Chris Beam and his wife Dana of Alma; two sisters Irene Elmore of San Pedro, California and Elizabeth Smith of Fort Smith; one brother Larry Beam and his wife Jean of Van Buren; five grandchildren Brian Beam and his wife Kara of Tulsa, Lindsey Morris and her husband Grant of Fort Smith, Ethan Walker of Mulberry, Alex Walker of Alma and Mark Beam of Little Rock; four great- grandchildren Rhett and Brady Beam of Tulsa and Tara and Elijah Morris of Fort Smith.

The family will visit with relatives and friends Sunday, April 1, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Brian Beam, Ethan Walker, Alex Walker, Mark Beam and Grant Morris.
