Obituary for Theodore Adams Gaskell

Theodore “Ted” A. Gaskell, 91, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday January 24, 2018 in Fianna Hills Health and Rehabilitation. He was born October 9, 1926 in Cleveland, OH to John and Hortense (Hedges) Gaskell. He graduated from Port Smith New Hampshire High School and Tufts University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Ted worked as a stock broker as a young man and later returned to education to be a trained Prosthetist. He came to Fort Smith to manage Horton’s Orthotics and Prosthetics where he worked until he was 86 years old. He was a Unitarian, a faithful member of the Fort Smith Noon Exchange Club, the Sons of the Revolution, the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum and the Fort Smith Symphony which he attended faithfully until he was unable due to health.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved companion, JoAnn Jackson and all of his relatives. He is survived by three sons of his companion JoAnn all living in Chicago.

Burial of cremains will be private in U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Because Ted loved visiting the library a memorial reception will be held at the Ft Smith Library ,Miller Location, 8701 So 28th St ,Ft Smith, meeting room, 2pm Saturday February 17, 2018.

Ted will be greatly missed by his personal caregivers, Brandy Stanford and Michelle Weston and his care manager, Dolores Chitwood who loved and cared for him as if they were family.
