Obituary for Charles Wayne Hartley

Charles W. Hartley, 76 of Van Buren passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 in a local nursing home. He was a retired printer for Enid News and Eagle Newspaper for over forty-five years. He was an avid sailor, marathon runner and hiked the Grand Canyon twice. He had also climbed three of Colorado’s highest peaks and went on two mission trips to Peru. He was a long distance bicyclist and also enjoyed motorcycling. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Bertie Lou (Sumpter) Hartley, one sister, one brother and one son.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Saturday December 9, 2017 at Heritage Church Chapel in Van Buren with cremation to follow under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren. Family will visit with friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

He is survived by his wife Jamie Turner Whitlock Hartley of the home; five sons George Michael Jadloski and his wife Paula of Wichita Falls, Texas, Charles Robert Hartley and his wife Linda of Fort Worth, Texas, Noel C. Whitlock, Jr. and his wife Lael of Searcy, Arkansas, Richard Wayne Whitlock and his wife Carla of Van Buren, and Harry Dean Whitlock and his wife Lisa of Reno, Nevada; one daughter Leigh Ann Hartley Boggs of Haslett, Texas; twenty-two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one niece; two nephews.
