Joanne Marie Huffman, 75, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 in a local nursing home. She was born on April 29, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska to Claude W. and Mary (Shrieves) Horwedel. Joanne was a retired nurse at Sparks Regional Medical Center and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Thomas Horwedel.
A rosary service is 6:00 PM, Friday, September 15, 2017 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The family will visit with friends following the rosary.
Funeral memorial Mass is 10:00AM, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church Chapel with entombment to be in the columbarium at Christ the King. Funeral services are under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home.
She is survived by her son, Joe Stokes of Fort Smith, AR; two brothers, Richard Horwedel of Spring, Texas and Kenneth Horwedel and his wife Debra of Woodlands, Texas and two sister in laws, Cher Horwedel of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Nora Horwedel of Las Angeles, California.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sebastian County Humane Society 3800 Kelley Highway, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
