Douglas Wayne   Inman
Douglas Wayne Inman, 79, of Fort Smith died peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2017 in a local hospital. He was born October 15, 1937 in Fort Smith to John and Marie (Loyd) Inman. Doug skipped two grades before he graduated from Alma High School at the age of 16 years old. He attended the College of the Ozarks on a football scholarship, where he was team captain and graduated with a degree in math and physics. He started his career in Dallas, Texas at the Fireman’s Fund and retired from Regions Insurance in Fort Smith after 45 years in the insurance industry. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Mackey Inman, his parents and two brothers, Richard and Dwight Inman.
Doug was a former board member of the Fort Smith Boy’s Shelter. He enjoyed playing golf, boating, fishing and playing poker with his grandson.
Doug is survived by one son, Michael Harris Inman and his wife, Andrea of Fort Smith; a grandson, Austin Douglas Inman; one brother, Gene Inman and his wife Angie of Alma; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home 4500 Jenny Lind Road Fort Smith, AR.
