Obituary for Margaret Ann "Peggy" Vicary (Theines)

Margaret Ann "Peggy" Vicary (Theines)
Margaret Ann “Peggy” Vicary, 83, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in a local nursing home. She was born on January 20, 1933 in Fort Smith to Theodore and Margaret (Schnitzer) Thienes. She formerly worked for the Finance Department at Fort Chaffee and Coca Cola, and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, attended St. Boniface School and graduated from St. Scholastica.
Peggy was a dedicated mother, grandmother and caregiver. She fondly remembered helping with her ailing aunt when she was growing up, and along with raising her son, she assisted various family members over the years. Her focus turned to her grandchildren and she was always willing to do anything they asked and ‘spoil them rotten’ at every opportunity.
She was able to relax and enjoy her later years at Mercy Crest and the family appreciates the dedication of Misako, Vicky and the rest of the crew from Superior Senior Care, and also thanks the many caregivers and helpers at Mercy Crest and Methodist Nursing Home.
Funeral Mass is 10:00AM, Saturday, November 19, 2016 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
The rosary will be at 5:00PM, Friday, November 18th at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel, the family will visit with friends following the rosary.
She is survived by her son, Steve Vicary and his wife Betsy of Fort Smith, AR; two sisters, Mary Thienes of Fort Smith and Kitty Bastian of McKinney, TX; five grandchildren, Chase Vicary of Chicago, IL, Matt Vicary of Los Angeles, CA, Sara (Kyle) Martin and Wyatt and Will Robinson all of Fort Smith, AR.
Pallbearers are Chase and Matt Vicary, Will and Wyatt Robinson, Kyle Martin, Jess Hankins and Max Cloninger.
Memorials may be made to St. Boniface School Endowment Fund, 1820 North B St. Fort Smith, AR 72901 or St. John’s Episcopal Church Sack Lunch Program, 215 North 6th Street, Fort Smith, AR 72901.
The family would like to thank Mercy Crest, Methodist Nursing Home and Peachtree Hospice for their compassionate care.
